Norovirus outbreak closes school

By Julie Spencer
March 21, 2013

A primary school hit by a sickness bug will be closed for the rest of the week.

Binfield Primary School is being deep-cleaned, on the advice of the Health Protection Agency (HPA) after an outbreak of norovirus.

It is thought as many as 70 children have been struck down by the illness.

The specialist clean at the school in Benetfeld Road is expected to take several days.

Norovirus forced school to close

Parents' evening appointments were cancelled yesterday (Wednesday) and the school will be shut until at least Monday, if the deep-clean is finished.

A message to parents on the school's web site apologised for the closure. It states: "We are sorry for the inconvenience but we hope you appreciate that this is in order to limit the further spread of this nasty bug."
