Three services caring for nearly 22,000 patients at Heatherwood Hospital will close within seven months, according to health bosses.

This week the new clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) – the bodies which are responsible for buying health care services – voiced their support for the plans to close the Ascot Birth Centre, stroke ward and Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) by January 2014 and create a new surgical centre at the hospital.
