Woman hospitalised after reports of Easthampstead explosion

A woman was taken to hospital with burns following a suspected explosion in a home.

The woman and her mother were injured following a gas leak in Whatley Green, Easthampstead at approximately 11.30am today (Thursday).

Ambulance, police and fire crews attended the scene where crews from Bracknell and Wokingham tackled the blaze.

An ambulance spokeswoman said: "A female in her 20s was taken to Frimley Park Hospital with burns, the extent of which are not known."

A spokeswoman from Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "There was smoke billowing from the window and a fire in a downstairs cupboard."

Police confirmed that neighbouring Waterham Road was closed and evacuated but was reopened at 1pm this afternoon.
