A man has admitted causing grievous bodily harm to a 13-month-old child.

The 21-year-old from Bracknell, who has not been named, pleaded guilty to a charge of GBH with intent and one count of ABH at Reading Crown Court on Monday.

The charges relate to the child being found with a fractured skull and bruises to its face and body at an address in Bracknell in September last year.

The man will be sentenced on Monday, February 25 and has been remanded in custody.

Detective Constable Dale Purcell, from the Thames Valley Police child abuse investigation unit, said: “This case is an appalling example of the abuse of a vulnerable 13 month old baby.

"My team and I worked tirelessly to ensure that justice was sought and that this child is now safe.

"Our joint work with social services and healthcare professionals on this matter was second to none and everybody involved can be very satisfied with the outcome”.
