Man urinated on Muslim’s trainers

By Hugh Fort
December 19, 2011

A Bracknell man who admitted urinating in a Muslim man’s trainers, during a racist ‘happy slapping’ incident, will be sentenced for the ‘vile and disgraceful’ act in January.

IT worker Darren Scott and his friend Aidan Ostintelli, of Camberley, were drunk and high on cannabis when they abused and attacked Mustapha Himedean after a trip to Amsterdam in July.

Scott, of Northbrook Copse, Forest Park, admitted religiously aggravated common assault, religiously aggravated harassment and aggravated harassment.

Ostinelli, who denied the charges, was jailed for six months at Maidstone Crown Court on Tuesday, December 12, for his part in the attack.

Scott’s Muslim girlfriend was in court as he was told to return for sentence on Monday, January 16.

Alistair Keith, prosecuting, said the attack began on the ferry from Calais to Dover when Ostintelli and Scott began persecuting Mr Himedean by snatching a pillow from under his head as he rested.

The pair started abusing him on the coach back to London and filmed the attack.

Scott then told him several times “This is the UK. We will f***ing pee on your head.”

Mr Keith said: “He [Mr Himedean] tried to ignore it but matters became more aggressive.”

A camera was then produced and shoved into Mr Himedean's face.

As Mr Himedean put his hand up to block the camera, Ostintelli grabbed it, twisted it and then bit him.

Scott also punched him.

The victim grabbed the camera and tried to take it to the driver but was followed by the pair, who continued to abuse him.

Scott also urinated in Mr Hemdean’s trainers which were in a bag.

The driver pulled off the M2, motorway in Dartford, Kent, the police were called and officers boarded the coach and arrested the two men.

In his interview, Ostintelli accused Mr Himedean of “playing the race card”.

He said: “I see, so he played the race card and we get arrested.”

Ostintelli is a serial offender with 14 previous appearances for 23 offences.

He was sentenced in his absence after running away when the jury was sent out.

Charles Durrant, defending Scott, said his client was normally a law-abiding, tax-paying citizen.

He was drunk and had been using cannabis on the day of the offence.

He said: “The facts are disgusting and unpleasant. It was a moment of madness.”

Judge Charles Macdonald said Ostintelli had an ‘appalling record’, which made the offences more serious.

Ostintelli was jailed for six months concurrently for religiously aggravated common assault, common assault, religiously aggravated harassment and aggravated harassment.

Jesus... who p*ss*d on your shoes?! Cheer up, it's nearly Christmas

@Sarah - A question should be followed by a question mark

e.g. "Is my English now to your standards?" ;o)

Brad - peeing on trainers might seem funny (although in reality it's gross and I'm sure you wouldn't laugh if someone did it to you) but the attack is worse than that - the man was actually bitten.

The fact that Bracknell is so pathetic that it's headline story is about 1 man p*ssing on another mans shoes, with a race card thrown in to try and make a story out of nothing. And in general, it's just funny... assuming you don't have a stick in your a*5e or are the type of loser who complains to Ofcom when you see a nipple in a shower gel advert....

@Sarah, she hasn't shown arrogance, it's ignorance - get your insults right. And also, "doesn't give no one the right to abuse..." is a double negative, so you've just argued your own point through stupidity (just so you know) I am willing to give you some English lessons at a very good rate

Can anyone see the joke? Or will you just all get angry?! Will it even get posted?!

Merry Christmas!

“I see, so he played the race card and we get arrested.”

Well, perhaps if he had not been subjected to abuse because of his race and religion, it wouldn't have relevent...

My congrats to whoever used the photo archive today too. I think most of us will know what trainers look like, but it does help set the scene nevertheless.

Mother superior the arrogance you display on this issue is astounding. Muslims are not the only group that refrain from alcohol, there are many other Non-muslim groups who are not permitted to drink or voluntarily refrain from alcohol, doesn't give no one the right to abuse an innocent commuter. I am sure you would have been outraged if it was a Muslim whom committed these vile acts against a Christian... thought so.

CMA, The media has made Islam into a race, by profiling Muslims into a category and a certain look which of course doesn't work as Muslims are of different colors, nations etc (Richard Reid) . The attack was "Islamaphobic" as he according to other reports he shouted out profanity relating to his religion before physically attacking him because he was not getting a response.

It should say 'because of there religion, they were not used to the alcohol" ie the Emma West thing.. and be completely let off.

What I don't get about Darren Scott, is he was apparently abusing this guy due to him being muslim, but he has a muslim girlfriend?

Also - Islam is a religion, not a race, so technically it's not racism. It's still wrong, but it shouldn't be called racism.
