Illegal rave broken up

April 10, 2011

An illegal rave being held on land between Bracknell and Crowthorne has now ended, say police.

Officers moved in at around 1pm today to end the rave, held on land owned by the Woodland Trust and the Forestry Commission off Foresters Way and Bracknell ROad, in two separate operations.

Neighbours called police at around 2am about the noise coming from the rave, which was attended by around 1,000 people.

A police helicopter was deployed to monitor the situation before the event was broken up earlier today.

A fire crew from Bracknell was also called to the site to put out a series of small fires.

No arrests have been yet.

Superintendent Richard Humphries said: "I'd like to thank the local community for their support and patience in this matter."

Police remain at the site to make sure people leave safely.

From what I heard, the police helicopter was as much of a nuisance as the rave.
