Victory over Windsor hands title to Royal Ascot Men

September 24, 2009

Royal Ascot Tennis Club’s Mens 1st team has proven its strength once again after winning the Berkshire LTA Mens Division 2, and gaining promotion.

The team of Aaron Flamson (captain), Colin Bradburn, Darren Thomas and George Elawure defeated opponents Windsor 2 in eight straight sets in the final match on Saturday to claim the title.

They had already won all their earlier matches against Caversham 2, Greenacre, Maidenhead 2 and Twyford, where fellow team members Kevin Breadman and Steve Birch also played their part in the victories.

Skipper Flamson said: “We’ve had a fantastic season, with some really close matches.

“This year’s victory has been a very strong united effort from all team members, spurred on to win with the prospect of joining the best teams in the county in Division 1.

“There are over 70 teams in the Berkshire LTA Mens League and we are thrilled to now be among the very top teams in the county.”

Royal Ascot Tennis Club is a Community Amateur Sports Club, located in Ascot Wood.

The club has four floodlit courts open all year, with members of all standards playing both social and competitive tennis. Visit www.royalascottennis.com.
