Bracknell snap up Coventry GB star

31/ 5/2007

BRACKNELL BEES have confirmed the signing of 6ft 3in Great Britain Under-20 forward Tom Carlon from Coventry Blaze.

Carlon started out at his home-town club Telford Tigers where he was leading goal scorer and supporters’ player of the year in the 2003-04 season.

Bees coach Dwight Parrish said: “Tom’s a big lad who has great offensive ability and a great attitude.

“He’s young, hard-working, has a winning mentality and always gives 100 per cent. He has been part of an exceptional organisation at Coventry and the coaching he has received there, as well as training and playing at that higher level, have developed his game no end.

Carlon was in last December’s GB U-20 World Championships side captained by Bees’ Shaun Thompson.

And Parrish said: “I’m very excited about having finally secured Tom’s signing. I’ve not heard a bad word about him from anyone that I have talked to.

“They have only had positive things to say about him. I am expecting a lot from him.”

Bees have also brought 19-year-old British forward Greg Martyn back to the club from Swindon Wildcats.

Parrish said of Martyn’s return: “Greg is a great skater with a lot of potential. He  developed well last season with Swindon and continually improves. He matured a lot last season and comes back to us stronger than before.”
