Reynolds and Knight set to miss out for RedingensiansBy Nigel Sutcliffe
December 09, 2011
Seb Reynolds is set to miss the first visit of Bristol-based Old Redcliffians to Redingensians’ ground tomorrow (2pm).
Reynolds is struggling with a groin strain and likely to be replaced by England Sevens winger Mark Odejobi, who played in the centre during his spell at Esher.
Joao Costa will come in on the wing as Reading University skipper Chris Knight broke a hand during last Saturday’s 39-22 win at Chippenham and will be out for at least a month.
Knight scored a vital try on his Rams debut despite suffering his injury in the 10th minute. Also back in the Rams squad of 18 is hooker Michael Clarke, who like Odejobi was at the Dubai Sevens last week.
Rams trailed Chippenham 19-7 at one stage and head coach Mike Tewkesbury said: “It wasn’t easy because of the disruption. However, there are certain areas we have to work on.”
It is Old Redcliffians’ first season at National 3 South West level and after winning their first two matches, they have found the going difficult. However, they are clear of the relegation zone and under player-coach Graeme Beveridge, who was capped eight times at scrum-half by Scotland, are unlikely to be a pushover.
