London Irish No. 8 Hala'ufia cited for striking opponent

By Alan Manicom
February 25, 2013

Chris Hala'ufia has been cited for striking during London Irish's 30-19 win over London Wasps in the Aviva Premiership at Madejski Stadium on Sunday.

Exiles' No. 8, who went on to be named man of the match, will face a disciplinary hearing in Coventry tomorrow night.

Hala'ufia was given a yellow card by referee Tim Wigglesworth in the opening minute of the second half after using a forearm to fend off an attempted tackle by Wasps hooker T Rhys Thomas.

The length of the suspension recommended by the RFU for any player found guilty of striking using an arm ranges between a two-week ban to eight or more.

It is the second time this season that Hala'Ufia has been cited.

He successfully appealed a five-week ban last December after receiving a red card for a tip tackle on Seb Jewell during Irish's 15-9 Aviva Premiership defeat by London Welsh at Kassam Stadium.
