Coach Toby Booth saw his London Irish side throw away a 13-point lead against Aviva Premiership basement club Leeds Carnegie and crash to their tenth consecutive away defeat.

Exiles began slowly but took the lead with a penalty by Chris Malone, who went off with a shoulder injury shortly afterwards.

And there was no sign of the capitulation to come when Seilala Mapusua went over after good work by Dan Bowden and Topsy Ojo just before the break.

Ryan Lamb, who kicked 11 points in total, slotted over the conversion to make it 16-3.

But Leeds proved they have no intentions of going down without a fight and, with moments of the half remaining, Luther Burrell caught a crossfield kick by Adrian Jarvis and dived over.

The extras were added by Jarvis, who had a fine game at fly-half, missing just one of six attempts at goal, albeit the easiest, to finish with an individual tally of 12 points.

Although a Lamb drop goal soon after the restart extended Irish's lead to 19-10, it was all Leeds from thereon.

Daniel Browne went over from close range and then a Mike MacDonald try put Leeds in front for the first time.

Jarvis, who converted both efforts, then prevented Irish from going away with even a losing bonus point when he notched the final points of the match with a late penalty.
