The five-day Glorious Goodwood meeting is one of the highlights of the British summer – full of fashions, flavour and fantastic racing.
More than 120,000 racegoers flock to the course on the beautiful Sussex Downs every year.
It all sprints out of the stalls next Tuesday (July 31) when the action is expected to include two of the sport’s superstars, Frankie Dettori and Hayley Turner.
Following the racing, there will be a free-to-see charity Lord’s Taverners Twenty20 cricket match in front of Goodwood House at 6pm, featuring some star-studded names from the sporting and celebrity worlds. Star attraction on Wednesday is sure to be wonder horse Frankel, the unbeaten £100 million-valued Henry Cecil-trained colt, who goes in the QIPCO Sussex Stakes.
The Magnolia Cup, a charity race in aid of Spinal Research and Winston’s Wish, is the highlight of Thursday’s Ladies Day with on-course celebrities expected to include actors Billie Piper, her husband Laurence Fox, Silent Witness star Emelia Fox and Philip Glenister.
Action on Friday and Saturday will complete what promises to be a spectacular week. Tickets for Glorious Goodwood start at £14 – gates open at 11am with racing at 2pm daily. For further information, visit www.goodwood.com or call the ticket office on 01243 755055.
