Pogrebnyak tells Arsenal's Arshavin to join Reading FC

By Jonny Fordham
November 14, 2012

Pavel Pogrebnyak has told Andrey Arshavin to come and join him at Reading.

The Russia striker played with the Arsenal forward at Zenit St Petersburg and they have also been part of the international set-up together.

Earlier this month Royals owner Anton Zingarevich - a fellow compatriot and St Petersburg fan - spoke of his interest in bringing Arshavin to Madejski Stadium.

And Pogrebnyak is now having his say. He told a Russian website: "It's Arshavin who has to make the decision. Anton Zingarevich knows him well enough without listening to my opinion, as he is from St Petersburg.

"Andrey is a master and there is no doubt that it would be great to see him at Reading."

4-2-3-1 is also the formation of choice on Fifa 13 if you want to win every game, sort it out Brian.

I hope we're not going to be russian into anything!

Would be good to get Arshavin in but we'd have to play a different formation...

If McD was brave enough to change to 4-2-3-1 with Pog up front and Arshavin, Mcanuff, Guthrie behind him with 2 from Ledge/Karacan/Tabb...

IF we don't win this month, it's time for a new manager with experience in this league - I'd love Harry Redknapp to manage us!

Reading should look at bringing a hungry player in, not this lazy Russian! Would Daniel Sturridge leave on loan for regular first team action? Joe Cole? Could do a lot worse than Stephen Hunt.

arshavin, pog and guthrie would work great together, if they were allowed to play passing football... with the current approach however they would be completely ineffective.

I know people say he is lazy etc but Arshavin operating at 50% capacity would be alot better than what we have at the moment.

I also think that he would be able to link up well with the Pog who is clearly not being used to his full potential.

If this happens, I for one will be delighted!

Could the Post save cash by downsizing (terrible word, shudder!)the football reporting department and just sourcing all their RFC related stories directly from Russian Websites?
