McAnuff: Reading FC need to be solid all roundBy Jonathan Low

Jobi McAnuff says Reading need to try and replicate the way they played last year to ensure results improve in the Premier League.
The Royals have had a disappointing start back in the top flight, with three draws and three defeats and face a daunting task against Liverpool at Anfield tomorrow.
The 30-year-old midfielder said: “We have to make sure we get back to being solid — that was the basis of our success last year.
“If we work hard and make sure Liverpool don’t get time on the ball, we’ll limit their chances.
“We’ve got more than enough to give them problems, as we’ve shown with the goals we have scored and the chances created so far.”
And McAnuff says every member of the side needs to show they can cope at Premier League level.
“We have to make sure we perform at our best — one through to 11,” he said.
“We’ve found out this year that if three or four of us aren’t quite at the races then we’re not going to get a result.
“The quality is a lot different to the Championship,” he added.
“We need to improve on limiting the opposition’s chances because we’ve conceded too many for our liking.
“Some of them were probably half-chances, but with the quality in this league you get punished.”
McAnuff was part of the Reading side which defeated Liverpool 2-1 after extra-time in the FA Cup in January 2010.
And the Jamaican says the Royals can take the belief from that win in to tomorrow’s match.
“These are the games you look forward to, particularly for us because we’ve had a good experience at Anfield,” said McAnuff.
“We’ll be going back there with good feelings and good memories, knowing we can go to a place like that and win.
“We want to make sure we’re in the game and if we do the things we know we can do well then no team will have an easy match against us.
“Liverpool are a top club with some top players, but they’ve been a little sticky at home and not had the greatest of starts.
“We haven’t either in terms of the points we’ve got, but if we play like we know we can then we know we’ll have a good chance of getting a good result there.”
