LIVE: Chelsea v Reading FC

By Jonny Fordham
August 22, 2012

Reading and Chelsea have played 18 times in all competitions.

Royals have won just three of these meetings, drawing six and losing the other nine.

The last time these two met was at Stamford Bridge on January 30, 2008 in the Premier League. Michael Ballack’s 32nd-minute goal earned the host’s a 1-0 win.

Jonny says:

It looks like it will take something of a miracle for Royals to get anything from the battle at the Bridge.

Roberto Di Matteo’s side ooze class and quality and it will be tough for Reading to keep the score down against the European champions. I think it will end 2-0 to Chelsea.

huge fan of McDermott but having watched both games now he has got it wrong both times. Stoke HRK should not have started and v Chelsea why change to 442 with 20mins to go. Chelsea were always going to push on so why not hit on the break?? after all it got us promoted last season, the min he bought on Alfie they had so much space in midfield it was only going to end one way. i expected some nerves from the players but not McDermott

It's no use blaming Feds. All goalkeepers go through a phase (like batsmen) when they perform under par. Worse was the blunder by the lino which changed the course of the game. A lino at that level should have spotted the offside which wasn't even marginal. Torres was at least a yard off. Bring on video technology to eliminate human error. A point lost, even to Chelski, could prove vital in the end. If that was SAF he would have had a heart attack and stroke at the same time. Yet another example of how the more glamorous clubs seem to get the breaks.

Seems a few are changing thier minds about Fed ..When he signed his new contract I said he was the second best keeper at the club. Now is the time to give him a rest so he can spend his salary.

McD you have to make your mind up soon on who you are going to play in goal. Thats two howlers Feds has had sort it out now before it gets to bad.

What has happened to Feds? So unlike him, one more mistake like that and McCarthy should get his chance to show what he can do. Brilliant team performance but let down by another Feds howler.

Shame. Sounds like we gave it our all. Sad to say that at the moment Feds seems our weak link.. who would have thought that after last season! Personally, I think he needs to get his hair cut! He cannot keep waving them in like that. Yes it was Chelsea, but again silly silly goals given away again. Bring on Sunderland!
