Brynjar Gunnarsson will be offered a new Reading contract and is also set to be named in the 25-man Premier League squad.
The highly experienced midfielder is seen as a crucial part of Brian McDermott’s squad and although he is unlikely to play regularly, the manager is poised to put a new deal on the table for the 36-year-old.
“He will definitely get something at this football club,” said McDermott of the popular player.
“My gut feeling is that he will be in the 25-man squad too.
“If you look at the numbers, right now we’re up to 23.
“Players like Sean Morrison, Jordan Obita and Karl Sheppard don’t count among that as they’re under 21 – so there is a strong chance Bryn will be in.”
