Andersen set for Pompey loan move

Mikkel Andersen is in talks with Portsmouth over a season-long loan.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper is looking to gain more first-team experience and Reading manager Brian McDermott sees the switch as an ideal opportunity for him to do so.

If Andersen joins up with League One Pompey, then Royals will move to bring in free agent Stuart Taylor, 31, who was training with the club until last week.

McDermott, talking exclusively to getreading from the club’s training base in Portugal, said: “We’ve possibly got a deal with Portsmouth and Mikkel could go there on loan. If that’s the case then we will try to do something with Stuart.

“Stuart is training on his own back at home right now, so he’s looking after himself. It was right for him to do that to keep his options open to a point, but he is very keen to come here.”

Taylor played 30 minutes for Reading in their 7-0 win at AFC Wimbledon last Saturday.

And McDermott believes the 6ft 5ins keeper would slot in well at Madejski Stadium among his new-look Premier League squad.

Royals’ boss added: “He’s happy with us and he has been really good around the place.”
