Mills and Griffin shrug off injuries

March 12, 2010

Reading should have a fully-fit squad to choose from against Bristol City at Madejski Stadium tomorrow, writes JONNY FORDHAM.

Boss Brian McDermott told getreading that he expects everyone to be raring to go after Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Derby County.

Centre-back Matt Mills left the field with a minor leg injury and right-back Andy Griffin seemed to be struggling towards the end of the game with a hamstring strain.

But McDermott is confident his Royals stars will be in top shape ahead of the Robins clash.

He said: “Everyone trained yesterday and I know what my team is already.

“I’ll look at Bristol’s team and see where their strengths and weaknesses are and work with the guys in training around that today.

“We go into every game wanting to win and I’ll send out the team I think will be capable of doing so.”

Reading can call on winger Jobi McAnuff as he has served his three-game ban following his sending-off at the end of Royals’ 3-2 win over West Brom in the FA Cup last month.

Midfielder Brian Howard has been combating the after-effects of an illness, but should be okay to partner Jay Tabb in the middle.

Grzegorz Rasiak started in attack alongside Shane Long against Derby replacing Simon Church, but the Wales striker could be handed another start after coming off the bench and scoring his 10th goal of the season.
