Will Liam get a Rosie reception at Reading v Ipswich Town?
By Jonny FordhamNovember 02, 2009
There won’t be anyone more desperate to score against Reading for Ipswich Town this Saturday, than Reading’s very own Liam Rosenior.
Having been shipped out of the club against his will, the on-loan right back will feel he has a point to prove to his parent club.
The 25-year-old fell victim to Royals’ failed promotion push last season and being one of the highest earners on the wage bill, he was duly shown his way as the club “cut their cloth”.
From a business point of view- it’s a shrewd deal from director of football Nick Hammond who has capitalised on a player out of contract this summer.
Royals also received a fee for Rosenior, a win win situation from a financial outlook.
However, his replacement Shaun Cummings has struggled to find his feet as of yet, and stand-in right-back Jay Tabb has done a commendable job out of position in the last two games especially.
It’s fair to say Rosenior never set the world alight at Madejski Stadium, being the understudy to the immensely popular captain Graeme Murty was always going to be a hard act to follow.
But Rosie always gave 100 per cent for the team and hopefully he gets a good reception from the loyal Royals at the Mad Stad.
Win, lose or draw he was always somebody who would be willing to speak to the press and give a frank and honest opinion after a game.
For me he had always been a model pro and when I was having a chat with him in Sweden this summer about his ambitions, he spoke about how much he was looking forward to being one of the senior pros in the squad.
But, in the end it wasn’t meant to be. And as is the case in football- Rosenior has moved on and looks to be playing with renewed confidence and freedom.
Roy Keane’s men have struggled with results- but their performance’s have been relatively good in comparison.
Rosie’s not known for his goal-scoring prowess, but with one under his belt already from 10 games, he could be worth a couple of quid at the bookies.
Just look at Marcel Seip at on loan at Blackpool against his parent club Plymouth Argyle already this season.

For me, he should still be at the club, experienced with lots of energy and enthusiasm. Would offer a really good balance to the side right now.

Please can you ask hapless Hammond what he's doing to get a new striker in, and maybe a right back too?
