Marek Matejovsky: I want to stay at Reading FC
By Jonny FordhamOctober 28, 2009
Marek Matejovsky has dismissed suggestions that he is unhappy at Reading and looking to get away.
The Czech Republic international made his first start in five games on Monday as Royals lost 1-0 to Leicester City, but he still managed to impress in midfield.
Speculation surrounding his future has been fuelled by his recent absence from manager Brendan Rodgers’ team.
And Sparta Prague are known to be monitoring his situation.
But Matejovsky told the Post: “I want to be at Reading and I want to play.
“If I’m not playing then I can’t be happy, but I want to play here and help the team.
“Maybe I’ll play the next game or maybe I’ll be in the stands. I don’t know. It’s a question for the gaffer.
“I want to play well and help the team, but if we’re losing then the gaffer will of course make changes.”
Matejovsky was disappointed that Royals failed to break down the Foxes at Madejski Stadium, despite putting in a performance worthy of all three points.
“It’s unbelievable because we played really well and had so many chances, but just didn’t score,” added the midfield playmaker.
“We need to win for the supporters and because our position in the table is not good enough.
“We have played well in many games, but that’s not enough. We need results. It’s as simple as that.”
Matejovsky is set to keep his place in the starting line-up for Saturday’s trip to Coventry City as Royals seek the points they need to climb out of the relegation zone.
Rodgers has used 13 different midfielders this season in his search for a winning formula.
And although Royals lost on Monday, he could be tempted to stick with a central midfield partnership of Matejovsky and Brian Howard, who scored his first goal for the club in the disappointing 4-1 defeat at QPR eight days ago.

Good interview as well, pleasing to hear.
Having been at the game on Monday I sky+ it and watched the game back last night and was surprised that neither sky commentators picked up on his exceptional through balls to Rasiak instead concentrating on how McAnuff is unplayable....?!! As long as sky commentators concentrate on him rather than Matejovsky then hopefully opposition teams will forget about Marek and he can pull strings in central midfield!

The Rolls Royce of Reading FC and the Championship. Lightyears better than anyone in the squad and the fact he's played about 5 games is utterly laughable.
