Federici: errors are costing Reading FC
By Jonny FordhamOctober 19, 2009
Adam Federici feels Reading are making too many individual errors costing them precious points in the Championship after they threw away a 1-0 lead at West Brom.
The Australian goalkeeper was caught out after a calamitous back-pass by Jobi McAnuff forced him to rush out of his goal to challenge Jerrome Thomas.
But Thomas came off on top and scored West Brom’s equaliser before bagging another for the Baggies in their 3-1 win at the Hawthorns.
With Royals remaining in 21st place with just 10 points from 12 games and facing a tough trip to 10th placed QPR tomorrow night (kick-off 7.45pm), the 24-year-old has also called for greater focus.
He said: “It sums up our season really- we play good for ten minutes and then everyone just packs up and goes home. We’ve got to change and play for 90 minutes.
“The first against West Brom was a bad goal to concede and then we let them back into it when it was there for us to win, I just don’t know why we didn’t pick ourselves up and carry on.
“We need to cut down on individual errors- the first goal was shocking and I’m sure Jobi feels terrible about it.
“It was a simple pass but it goes astray. It went through my mind if I should bring him (Thomas) down or let him have an easy shot at goal.
“So I tried to make it hard for him at least and make a lunge without bringing him down so I wouldn’t get sent off, It was a tough decision to make.”
Federici continued: “But even then we were still in the game at 1-1, but we just seemed to go home.
“I don’t know how to solve it, we all talk good in the dressing room and come out well, still three goals again Is a horrible feeling.
“When we go down confidence is an issue, but we all need to put our chests out and carry on when we do.”
QPR thrashed sixth placed Preston 4-0 in London on the weekend and Federici knows that Reading need to re-group quickly for the trip to West London.
He added: “They’re a great side and there aren’t many easy games in the Championship so we need to pick ourselves up very quickly and play for a full 90 minutes.
“If we do that then we could beat teams three or four nil, but we just haven’t got that consistency together at the moment.”

Brendon needs to re-assess his tactics and switch us back to 4-4-2, work out who our best team are and push SJM and NH to invest in the squad in January. I am not saying spend, spend, spend for promotion but we are in a very precarious position right now and a small gap is opening up to the teams above us - we can't afford to be in a relegation scrap all season. If you can't manage to do all that Brendon just let the club know and we'll find someone else who can.

Also agree with Compo that Hamer should get a chance as No.1
Maybe with two months to go before the transfer window the scouts should be looking at a centre half who has pace.....teams have worked out by now Reading have no pace through the middle.

I thought the same in the last few months of the last season....the big talk off the pitch has no correlation with the pathetic performance on it.
The only problem is that I wouldnt have anything to read about!
