Reading’s James Henry scored as England Under-19s beat Serbia 1-0 in the European Championship Elite qualifying stage in Serbia yesterday, writes NICK IVE.
The midfielder grabbed the only goal of the game at the Borisov Stadium in Minsk, Belarus, 11 minutes after the break.
England, who beat Poland 2-0 on Monday, will qualify for the finals in the Czech Republic in July with a victory over Belarus on Saturday.
* Royals midfielder Marek Matejovsky has been named in the Czech Republic’s Euro 2008 squad.
The 26-year-old playmaker joins Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech as one of two English-based stars selected. The Czechs play joint-hosts Switzerland in the opening game of Euro 2008 on June 7 (5pm kick-off).
Meanwhile, wantaway Royals midfielder Emerse Fae has been on international duty with Ivory Coast in the Kirin Cup in Japan. He started in the opener against Paraguay, which ended 1-1, and in a 1-0 defeat to the hosts.
The former Nantes player is now preparing for his country’s World Cup qualifiers.
Also on international duty are Ibrahima Sonko (Senegal), Jimmy Kebe (Mali) and Andre Bikey (Cameroon), while Royals keeper Adam Federici is away with Australia and will be named in their Olympic squad next week.
