Shorey to lead mass exodus

Nick Ive
13/ 5/2008

Nicky Shorey will be the first to go in a massive summer clear-out as Reading attempt to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Whether Royals stayed up or not, sweeping changes were always going to be made.

Nice an positive there Phil! A Chelsea or Man Utd fan are you? The problem this year was that people worked out how to beat us and we didn't have anything else to give. Maybe that is because only a couple of years ago the team were Championship players and many still aren't seasoned Premiership players. They haven't become a bad team overnight and I hope many players stay to give us a good chance of getting back to the Permiership. There has been bad luck and odd decisions over the season but some fantastic memories such as the the victory over Liverpool. Reading FC has gone a long way over the past 3 years and the success couldn't last forever. Bring on next season! At least the ticket prices should go down for a year!

Not 1 person representing RFC was good enough this season - Madejski, Coppell or any of the players. You get out what you put in. Relegation was on the cards from the start of the season. Well done everyone at Fulham - Reading to get relegated from the championship - you heard it here first.

If it's a case of not trying or putting the effort in to keep us up because they want to leave, then good riddance, sling your hook.

If it's not, if it's battle-weariness, confidence or something else, then please stay and fight to get back up there. Prove you are the Premiership players we thought we had, and that you once were.

I hate goodbyes.

Ah.. footballers..a breed apart. All the finger pointing currently going on about who is to blame for the relegation. Is it Coppell's fault, Madejski's? Amazing. I don't recall JM making ONE appearance in a shirt, nor Coppell, or Dillon, or Downes. The PLAYERS were responsible for the team's ultimate fate. They performed as they did last season only sporadically. Remember Liverpool at home? Lack of investment in the team, and the lack of Sidwell was not an issue then. The footballers who have underperformed, and were responsible for getting the club relegated, now turn around and say they need to move on. Footballers live in a bubble. I wish I could screw up at work, and then use it as a lever to get a better paid job elsewhere.

He is a good player, no matter what people say. He represented England well, too in the qualifiers.

I hope he doesn't go to be honest, he really does have some of the skills that Reading need.

Naturally there are going to be big changes. Needed ones too. My biggest problem this season was, Manager Steve Coppell's team selections. Eight games with no goals. Ship Lita out on loan, then bring him back to try to correct the ship! Other decisions on team selection also. Not very smart moves! But.! Thank you for the efforts of the players on the field. Against Tottenham, fist half. They had no idea what they were doing. For a manager to say he had no idea how to stop Tottenham.! Leaves me to wonder. I'll be back next season :-)

Good. He's been s***t all season and the reason why we leaked so many goals. Good riddance I say and it's a shame we didnt get £8m for him last summer.
