Local football mourns the loss of 'true gentleman' John Bradley

By Lewis Rudd
February 28, 2013

A minutes silence will be held before fixtures in the Bracknell Town & District Sunday Football League this weekend to remember John Bradley, who passed away earlier this week.

Bradley worked tirelessly within the local game, carrying out duties such as a class one referee and Division 4 representative for the Berks & Bucks Football Association, which covers the East Berks and Bracknell & District football leagues.

He was also chairman and later vice president of the East Berks league, while his love for the game also saw him become a referee assessor.

He was also a member of the Referees Association.

Bradley was heavily involved in the Fielden Cup, presenting the Junior and Senior trophies to the winners, while up until last season he was a regular ambassador for the Berks & Bucks FA.

A statement on the Bracknell Town & District Sunday Football League website read: "We are sure that 90 per cent of our referees today have been given constructive advise over the years from John, who has given total commitment to the Referees Association with his tireless work.

"All in all a very sad loss that a true gentleman totally dedicated to all football will no longer be around."
