Bracknell Town ready for semi-final showdown

By Lewis Rudd
February 22, 2013

Bracknell Town will resume their bid to win the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup tomorrow when they take on Aston Clinton in the semi-final of the competition at Larges Lane.

The Robins are just one game away from a silverware showdown with either Pitstone & Ivinghoe or Letcome at Binfield's Hill Farm Lane on Saturday, March 23.

However, standing in their way is Buckinghamshire outfit Aston Clinton, who currently top Spartan South Midlands Football League Division 2.

Despite their healthy standing, Aston head into the semi-final as underdogs, as Town are the highest ranked team left in the competition.

Bracknell, who entered the Intermediate Cup in round two, have reached the last four courtesy of wins over Ashridge Park, Highmoor Ibis Res, REME Arborfield and Grendon Rangers, scoring 18 goals in the process.

Among the visitors' victims, however, includes Reading Football League side South Reading, whom they defeated 3-2 in the previous round to set up Saturday's trip to Bracknell.

The game also represents Town's first semi-final since a solitary goal from Jason Williams saw the side progress to the County Cup final in 2004 following a 1-0 victory at Slough Town.

They sadly went on to lose 4-1 in the final to Chesham United.

The game tomorrow kicks off at 3pm.
