Bracknell Town 5 REME Arborfield 3By Darrell Freeland

Bracknell Town will meet North Bucks & District Football League outfit Grendon Rangers in the semi-final of the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup after disposing of a resilient REME Arborfield side on Tuesday night.
Played in poor weather conditions, the Robins opened the scoring in the rearranged fixture when Shane Cooper-Clark pounced on blocked shots from both Josh Delander and Eddie Gray to break the deadlock.
Arborfield, though, showed their battling qualities and the Reading Football League Premier Division high-flyers turned the game on its head with two quick-fire goals.
But Town were quick to respond and the scores were soon level when Grey headed home a pin-point cross from Sam Barratt.
A highly-entertaining opening 45 minutes was then treated to a fifth goal with a speculative effort from Barratt which many of those in attendance believed could be a contender for goal of the season – if it was intentional.
While in possession of the ball down the left hand side, the winger sent over what looked to be a cross. However, the youngster got the better of the REME keeper with an effort which sailed into the back of the net as the hosts went in at the break looking to defend a narrow 3-2 advantage.
And it did not take Bracknell long to add a fourth after the restart, which came when substitute curled a tidy strike into the top left-hand corner after getting the better of his marker.
Player-manager Steve Nebett then headed home a fifth to all but confirm the Robins' place in the last four of the competition.
REME added a third late on, but by this time the Garrison club's involvement in the Intermediate Cup was coming to an end.
Bracknell now travel to Main Street on Saturday, January 26, as the highest ranked club left in the competition, where they will be looking to book a place in the final at the expense of their Buckinghamshire hosts.
