Binfield FC players show naked ambition in fundraising calendar

Footballers stripped off and braved the cold to shoot a calendar to raise funds for their club.

Binfield FC players got their kit off and bared all in the club house in Hill Farm Lane to produce the BFC Laid Bare calendar.

Striker Carl Davies, 27, from Lower Earley, who came up with the idea, said: “I was in Wales for a hernia operation and went home for a week to my mum’s.

“I was looking in my bedroom and found an old calendar I did with my football club when I was 20 and I thought why not do that?”

The club is non-profit making and the first team needs to be self-supporting and raises its own funds.

Carl, a delivery driver, suggested the idea to his team mates, who were reluctant at first, but after he led the way and laid himself bare, the other players were happy to retain their modesty with a cleverly placed prop or two.

Photographer Colin Byers, press officer at the club, said: “Props included subs boards, match balls – and even the trophies Binfield FC hold after their successful cup season in 2011/12.”

Colin, owner of C2 Photography, created the calendars which are on sale with all profits going towards club funds.

Calendars can be ordered for £10 from www.binfieldfc.com, through a player or from the club’s bar.
