Bracknell Town FC 3 Easington Sports FC 2

By Darrell Freeland
September 03, 2012

A missed penalty in stoppage time ensured visitors Easington Sports missed out on a share of the spoils as Bracknell Town took victory by the odd goal in five at Larges Lane in Hellenic Division 1 East.

Sports started very strongly as Dan Reeves hit the post and Peter Moulder tested Dexter Burt with a free header, before Ben Milner opened the scoring in the 13th minute, heading in Niall Higgins’ corner under no real challenge.

The home side, however, responded well and scored in the same fashion on 21 minutes as Sam Barratt headed in James Rogers’ corner.

Milner, though, scored with another free header only three minutes later to put his side back in front and Moulder should have extended the lead prior to half-time, but he could only pick out Burt.

Bracknell needed an early reply following the re-start and got it in the 48th minute as Rogers’ corner was met by the towering Wayne Carter for the fourth headed goal of the match.

Easington almost retook the lead as Higgins raced in, but Burt turned his effort onto the bar before it was cleared to safety.

Substitute Reece Jacques put the Larges Lane side ahead for the first time in the 60th minute as he was on hand to tap home from close range after a good team move.

Robins then had a couple of penalty appeals of their own waved away before before Sports were awarded a spot kick in stoppage time as the ball struck Taylor Elliott-Money on the arm.

Milner, on a hat-trick, produced a poor penalty, though, and although Burt went the right way the kick went well wide, handing Bracknell a vital win.

Bracknell Town: Burt, Elliott-Money, Luis, Gray, Nebbett, Carter (Roake 72), Alleyne, James, Cooper-Clark (Jacques 52), Rogers (Nugent 83), S. Barratt. Subs not used: Williams, T. Barratt
