Wokingham & Emmbrook FC to play Highmoor Ibis FC in Reading Senior Cup finalBy Adam Lee
May 17, 2012
Wokingham & Emmbrook will face Highmoor Ibis in the final of the Reading Senior Cup at Madejski Stadium next Tuesday (7pm kick-off).
After a number of postponements, the second semi-final, between Highmoor Ibis and Woodley Town, got underway at the weekend, with Highmoor securing the final berth following a 2-0 win.
It is the second time the Sumas have been in the final of the competition in the space of three years, having beaten Woodley 3-0 after extra-time back in 2009.
With a new-look team, Roger Herridge’s men will be aiming to grab their first piece of silverware since that night.
However, they will face a tough task against a Highmoor side managed by Shane Small-King.
Despite boasting one of the worst disciplinary records in the league, Highmoor are renowned for playing a very attractive brand of football, based on the individual skill of their key players.
And having earned promotion from Hellenic Division 1 East, Highmoor will be looking to make an early statement of intent before making their Hellenic Premier Division debut next season.
Wokingham, though, can boast a near full-strength side for the final.
Only Sam Whiting (broken leg) is definitely out, while defender James Rusby is looking very doubtful.
n A COACH has been organised for the final, and will leave from Emmbrook Sports and Social Club on Lowther Road at 4.45pm.
It will return to the club for drinks after the match and tickets cost £10.
Contact chairman Paul Rance on 07500 043870 for coach tickets.
