Bracknell Town 2 AFC Hayes 0

By Adam Lee
January 02, 2009

Bracknell Town recorded their first win in 11 games on New Year's Day to see 2009 off to the best possible start.

The Robins, who started the day bottom of the British Gas League Division 1 South & West, always looked in control against their relegation rivals, but had to wait until the last few minutes before the deadlock was broke.

Hayes goalkeeper James Harry was in fine form, denying Otis Williams, Nathan Jack, and Michael Buck as it seemed Bracknell were on course for a goalless draw.

However, in the 84th minute new signing Leon Soloman squared to Jack whose initial effort deflected off a defender, but Jack reacted quickest and teed up Soloman who made no mistake.

And Jack sealed the victory in injury time, winning a penalty and slotting it away himself to give Bracknell a morale-boosting victory.

- Robins manager Byron Walton has released underperforming players Errol Telemaque and Ryan McIntosh.

However, Walton has acted quickly to replace them, signing former Cardiff City trainee Carl Davies - who has spent the season turning heads with Woodley Town in the Reading Football League.

Walton is also, reportedly, looking at signing another defender and midfielder ahead of tomorrow's trip to Bridgwater.

Much better from Bracknell yesterday. More like this and we won't have many problems!
