Bracknell bagged an impressive 2-0 victory over Oxford City from the British Gas Premier Division.
New signing Chris Geary went closest for the Robins, who also gave debuts to goalkeeper Max Aneke and on-loan midfielder Dwane Williams, in the opening 20 minutes when he connected with Errol Telemaque’s overhead kick, but keeper Ryan Harrison was on hand to push the ball away.
The Robins made their dominance count on 32 minutes when Keith Newby scored from a 20-yard free-kick.
City failed to muster a single noteworthy opportunity after that, and both Telemaque and Newby had further chances to extend the lead before half-time.
Aneke pulled off a superb reaction save to keep Bracknell’s lead intact after the break, and Robins wrapped it up on 65 minutes when winger Ryan McIntosh played in Ian Harvey.
The youngster’s shot was parried by Harrison, but Telemaque tucked in the rebound from five yards.
Ascot United stayed top of the Hellenic League Division 1 East on goal difference after a 0-0 draw at Goal Post columnist Roddy Slater’s Henley Town.
Slater’s side prevented free-scoring Ascot from adding to their goal tally with a battling display, but they remain in the bottom four.
Binfield are joint top after a brace from Danny Wing earned them a 2-0 win over Penn & Tylers Green at Stubbs Lane.
Third-placed Wokingham & Emmbrook were held to a 1-1 draw at Englefield Green Rovers, but it looked like all three points were heading to Surrey until Sam Whiting netted in the 90th minute.
In the Combined Counties Premier, Sandhurst Town held Bookham to a 1-1 draw at Bottom Meadow.
* Bracknell face another home tie in the FA Cup against Tiverton Town following the Second Qualifying Round draw today, the game will be played on Saturday 27th September.
