Weston a bit Thai-ed up

Sandhurst Town’s pre-season preparations continued at the weekend when both the first and reserve teams travelled to the Sussex coast to play Selsey F.C.

However, right-back Matt Weston had further to travel than most as he went from Bangkok to Heathrow and then straight to the South coast before playing 85 minutes, despite jet-lag.

In an evenly-matched game, both Selsey and Sandhurst first team had plenty of chances but the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Pete Mulvaney on 26 minutes and Matt Czatska on 56 minutes were the Fizzers scorers.

Sandhurst reserves lost their game 3-0, but for a little more luck and clinical finishing in front of goal they could have won 6-3.

Fizzers boss Pete Browning said: “The lads faced another stiff test against good opposition especially given the hot and humid conditions which should help to give us the necessary momentum and fitness by the time we start the season proper.”
