Thames Valley Cricket League Round-Up: Divisions 5-9

Division 5A leaders Sonning 2nd held out to pick up nine points from a draw with Harefield 3rd.

Sonning chose to field after winning the toss and fell narrowly short of bowling out the visitors, who finished their 52 overs looking to defend a score of 218-9.

The Middlesex outfit then threatened to leave Berkshire with maximum points, but came across a stubborn 10th-wicket partnership which saw Sonning hold up an end to finish their innings on 159-9.

FINCHAMPSTEAD 3RD made it two wins in as many weekends with a seven-wicket win against Cookham Dean in Division 5B, thanks in part to a score of 101 from Gareth Biggs.

Biggs was instrumental in helping Finches successfully chase down the 260 target set by Cookham, which came with just three balls to spare.

A swashbuckling 143 from Greg Smith helped WOKINGHAM 3RD pile on the runs during their victory over rivals HURST 2ND in Division 6B.

Ashley Cutts fell six runs short of a century as the Oaks gave the villagers a torrid time in the field, posting a final score of 278-4.

Hurst, in reply, struggled to keep batsmen at the crease, and despite a 61 from Oliver Lovegrove, crumbled to 146 all out, 132 runs shy of their target.

Kanwar Saagar hit a half-century during FINCHAMPSTEAD 5TH’S five-wicket triumph over local rivals EVERSLEY 4TH in Division 8A.

The game saw Finches’ Max Uttley return a fine 5-55 as Eversley were restricted to 215-9.

FINCHAMPSTEAD 4TH thumped Windsor 5th by 110 runs in Division 8B.

Kidmore End 3rd made the journey to BRACKNELL 2ND in Division 9A on Saturday and came away with a 35-run win. Bracknell were bowled out for just 103, but Kidmore left it late to secure the victory, with the winning runs coming in the 52nd over and for the loss of eight batsmen.

WOKINGHAM OAKS & ACORNS remain second in Division 9A after recording a a seven-run win against Yateley 4th at Sadlers End.
