Romans sponsors Yateley's Gig on the Green

FOLLOWING on from last year’s widely acclaimed inaugural event the Gig on the Green, which is sponsored by Romans' Yateley branch, will return to the village this Saturday.

Yateley Sports CIC is once again staging the music festival, which offers a great family day out, featuring a line-up of the UK's top tribute bands for Queen, Bon Jovi, Jessie J, Steps, Glee and The Small Faces.

There will also be a hand-picked selection of the region’s hottest musical talent, including Yateley’s very own singing star Alexa Goddard, plus local singers John James Newman, who performed on BBC’s hit talent show The Voice, and Lauren Thalia, a semi-finalist on Britain’s Got Talent.

Like last year, a highlight of the day will be The Y Factor, showcasing Yateley’s new singing stars in an X Factor-style contest with the best young talent from local schools and colleges.

Last year’s event raised £10,000 for new sporting facilities in Yateley and all proceeds from this year will also go towards this worthwhile community-inspired project.

“We’d like to thank Romans for their continuing Gold sponsorship of the Gig,” said Colin Ive, chairman of Yateley Sports CIC.

“We are delighted that Romans have agreed once again to support this hugely popular community event, designed to raise much needed funds for the development of sports facilities in Yateley. Without Romans’ committed and community-spirited support, it’s difficult to imagine the festival going ahead, which would deprive local musicians of the chance to display their talents for the enjoyment of a huge number of local families.”

The Gig on the Green starts at 1pm and carries on until 11pm.

Tickets are available online at www.gigonthegreenyateley.co.uk or at selected local outlets including Romans’ Yateley branch.
