Flipping victory for Bracknell Forest Standard

February 24, 2009

The Bracknell Forest Standard won a flipping grand victory this morning when it came top of the pancake race.

Sporty Team Standard grabbed the coveted title after a gruelling race, which involved running while flipping a pancake in a pan, against seven other equally determined teams.

Lucy Allen, Lorna Catling, Mike Pyle and Lewis Rudd made it to the final of the popular event in the town centre after battling againt the teams from Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP) and department store Bentalls.

Did you see the Bracknell pancake race? Did you take part in it? What do you make of this year's edition? Have a say here.

Onlookers appeared gripped as they watched the final round of the race, which saw Team Standard and the Bracknell Borough Council's own sporty quartet go head to head.

Victorious Team Standard received the grand trophy from Bracknell mayor councillor Bob Edger, who in good sporting spirit recognised Lucy, Lorna, Mike and Lewis' flipping talent.

The pancake race is organised to celebrate Shrove Tuesday and raise cash for charity.

Didn't see much tossing going on. Cheats. Especially that Lucy Allen.

Well said Mike, however i think you meant to say that he is feeling a little 'batter' rather than bitter!

Thanks for the support Beef - if that's your real name. I will have you know that, although we faced stiff competition, we thoroughly deserved our victory and actually won by a fair margin. Maybe next time you should enter a team. Or maybe you were among the plucky losers left in our wake and are just feeling a little bitter!
