Reading Festival tops NME chart
March 04, 2013
The trophy for best festival at this year’s NME awards has been won by Reading and Leeds Festival.
Kasabian, The Cure, Kaiser Chiefs and Florence and the Machine were among the headline acts which played at the Richfield Avenue site in 2012.
The high-profile awards ceremony was held at The Troxy, in East London, on Wednesday.
Reading Festival had also been up for the music moment of the year category for Green Day’s secret gig last year, but it was pipped by the Olympics opening ceremony.
This year’s festival is on August Bank Holiday weekend Friday, August 23, to Sunday, August 25.
Controversial American rapper Eminem has already been confirmed as one of this year’s headline acts, with Deftones, Alt-J, Biffy Clyro and Sub Focus also on the star-studded bill.
