PARENTS' GRATEFUL THANKS

April 09, 2003

THE parents of 20-year-old Thatcham man Nick Carter have expressed their thanks to Bracknell emergency volunteer group SEBEV, for their help with his search.

Nick went missing from his home in Oak Tree Road, Thatcham in the early hours of Monday, March 31, after chasing an intruder from the back garden of his family home.

Nick returned home to his parents later that evening.

Thames Valley Police and voluntary group SEBEV, based at Easthampstead Park, Bracknell, had been working together in a frantic search since his disappearance.

Mr and Mrs Carter, Nicks parents said: "We would like to express our thanks to both Thames Valley Police and volunteers from SEBEV for the enormous amount of effort put into the search. We are so relieved our son is home safe and well.

"Our family and friends were wonderful throughout this trying time and we thank them for their help and support."

SEBEV (south east Berkshire emergency volunteers) are the biggest and busiest group of its kind in the country.

Mr Kris Manning, search manager, said: "Andy Williamson, who was the search manager for most of the day Nick went missing, divided the search area into segments. The teams then searched those areas using special techniques for different types of ground.

"We cover all of Berkshire and provide national training."

If you would like to join the group or find out further information about SEBEV, contact (0118) 977 6331.
