Guides' fundraiser brings in £900

Mother's Day gifts and a ‘win a bunny’ lucky dip proved popular at a fundraiser which raised nearly £900.

All the cakes and two tombolas sold out at the 1st Warfield Guides’ event at the bandstand last Saturday.

Christine Turney, mum of Girl Guide Katie, said: “We had a fantastic day. We had a lot of interest and people buying and browsing around us all day.”

Katie, 13, and Rachel Arnaboldi, 14, need to raise £2,000 for a Guide trip to Iceland in August and the money was split between them and the Guides, who need new camping equipment.

The girls will be pony trekking on the volcanic lava, visiting the Blue Lagoon and the National Park where the American and European tectonic plates meet during their trip.
