By Becky Barnes
February 25, 2013

Tools and fuel were stolen from two vehicles in Sandhurst over the weekend.

Thieves swiped tools from a Ford Transit in Owlsmoor Road between Friday and Saturday and a fuel line was cut to steal fuel from a Ford Fiesta Zetec in Gower Park, College Town, between Thursday and Saturday.

A police spokeswoman said it is not known how the offenders broke into the Transit van as there was no damage to the vehicle.

The crime number for the theft of tools is URN 444 of 24/02 and for the fuel theft URN 465 of 23/02.

Anyone with information call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 and quote the URN and date.

Does it matter? Everyone knows that in the context of this article swiped means stolen!

Interestingly many dictionaries do not include your second definition and those that do define it as a slang expression.

swiped past participle, past tense of swipe (Verb) Verb Hit or try to hit with a swinging blow: "she swiped me right across the nose". Steal: "someone swiped one of his sausages".
