Light pollution concerns over floodlight plan

By Becky Barnes
February 20, 2013

Potential light pollution from proposed floodlighting will be considered before a planning application is given the go-ahead.

Edgbarrow School and Sports Centre, in Grant Road, Crowthorne, has lodged plans with Bracknell Forest Council for new floodlights in the car parking area.

Parish councillor Joan Newland recommended consultee Crowthorne Parish Council approve the plans at its meeting on Tuesday, February 5, subject to appropriate responses from Natural England and environmental health.

One neighbour in Grant Road lodged an objection to the plans, but said it would be withdrawn once the applicant had confirmed their property would not be adversely affected by light pollution.

Parish councillors agreed to support the application as long as neighbours will not be affected and this response will contribute to the borough council’s pending decision.
