Plans for Rothwell House in Crowthorne up for discussion tonight

By Becky Barnes
February 14, 2013

Two terraced blocks of affordable homes could replace a 1960s’ sheltered housing block if councillors approve plans this evening (Thursday).

Bracknell Forest Homes’ application to build houses for families on the site of Rothwell House, Wellington Road, Crowthorne, is due before Bracknell Forest Council’s planning committee at its meeting at 7.30pm.

Neighbours have lodged 10 objections including the claim families moving in would be ‘offensive and threatening’ to the current quality of life.

If plans are given the go ahead, Bracknell Forest Homes confirmed work could start in May with the hope it would be completed by next spring.

I suppose I am now into my twilight years and less forgiving of idiots than in my past but please don't ever let me be associated with some of the sad folk of Crowthorne.

Offensive and threatening!!! Just because the words affordable housing has been mentioned it is then presumed there will be thugs and feral kids moving in. How dare people presume this is what affordable housing means. People like nurses, police, ambulance drivers and strangely enough, people who are trying to get on the property ladder are the kind of people living or buying such homes. People who buy homes don’t tend to be the scum of the earth as these days you need to be in a great job to even be able to think about buying, no matter how “affordable”. To suggest they would bring the obvious stuck up neighbourhood down is very offensive. I hope if any of the surrounding neighbours ever need assistance in any of the emergency fields that they don’t bother to call for help. We wouldn’t want them being seen by anyone who lives in “affordable housing” would we. It’s snobbery and attitudes like that which makes this country a not nice place to live in at times.
