Gunshot rumours dismissed after body is found

The body of a man in his fifties has been found at a home in Birch Hill.
Police were called to the house in Melrose, Birch Hill at 11am on Sunday, February 10.
Rumours on social network sites Twitter and Facebook that gunshots were heard in the area have been quashed by police who say they have received no reports.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
