Innovative underground recycling site opens in Jennett's Park

Eco-warriors in Jennett’s Park have found a new way to recycle glass.

An innovative underground recycling site has been opened next door to the community centre in Sparrowhawk Way, which holds more waste than regular recycling sites and takes up less room.

Five containers, the same size as regular bins, have been installed at road level, giving neighbours more opportunity to take care of the environment.

Councillor Dorothy Hayes, executive member for the environment, said: “Underground recycling sites have a greater capacity than a standard dome bottle bank and they look nicer too as on the surface, they are the same size as a normal litter bin.

“Residents can now dispose of their used glass bottles and jars in a convenient way, and I would encourage residents to make use of these facilities.”

Unwanted clothes and shoes can also be recycled in the green textile bank, which will help the mayor of Bracknell Forest’s chosen charity, The Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance.

Why the picture of a guy in a chair covered in paper and paint?

And recycling glass is hardly the description of an eco-warrior is it. Reusing water from your bath to water your flowers - now that's more 'eco-warrior'. Recycling glass is pretty normal now.
