A fire spokeswoman said firefighters from Bracknell and Wokingham helped release the man from the lorry before ambulance crews took him to hospital in a critically-ill condition.

Police also attended after member of the public called 999 to report a lorry had collided with a wall and the driver was unconscious.

An ambulance spokesman said he could not speculate whether the man was unconscious before or after the smash.
