Community learning programme praised by Ofsted inspectors

A community education programme providing learning for adults in Bracknell has been praised by Ofsted inspectors.

Inspectors from the watchdog responsible for examining schools, said adult learners ‘enjoy lessons’ and make ‘good progress’ at Bracknell and Sandhurst Open Learning Centres.

An inspector visited the centres in November last year, giving the services grade two good ratings across three categories.

Inspectors also praised teaching staff for their enthusiasm and interesting lessons but advised this good quality teaching should be available in all lessons.

Janette Karklins, director of Children, Young People and Learning, said: “The lifelong learning team has worked tirelessly to create a programme of classes that meet community need and ensure the quality of teaching is good.

“We are very grateful Ofsted has recognised the changes we have made and have rated us as ‘good’.
