Five companies bid on Broadmoor revamp contract

By Jennie Slevin
January 21, 2013

Five companies have submitted quotes in the hope of winning the bid to redevelop Broadmoor Hospital.

The £150 million contract will be given to a developer to construct a new 234-bed building, within the grounds to make the secure hospital in Crowthorne a safer environment for patients and staff.

The past performance of each company, the design, specific skills and value for money will be considered by West London Mental Health NHS Trust, which runs the hospital in Upper Broadmoor Road.

The trust will be required to name its successful bidder by May 2013, providing the Department of Health approves the full business case.

Once work is under way, it is hoped to be completed by January 2017.
