Bracknell regeneration plans go on show

By Becky Barnes
January 08, 2013

People are being urged come and see Bracknell's regeneration plans as the full details of next week's public exhibition are revealed.

Bracknell Regeneration Partnership's (BRP) exhibition will showcase the latest plans for the town centre at Princess Square Shopping Centre from 11am to 6pm on Friday, January 18, and 10am to 5pm on Saturday, January 19.

Cllr Marc Brunel Walker, executive member for economic development and regeneration, said: "We really want people to come down.

"The key message is people need to see and understand what their town centre will look like."

2013 big year for Bracknell regeneration

The exhibition opposite 02 and next to Burton in Princess Square will show how the plans knit together and promises "a vibrant daytime and evening experience".

Helen Barnett, marketing manager at BRP said: “There has been a lot happening over the past few months.”

“We want to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to see the latest developments and ask any questions that they may have.”

Artists impressions showing improvements to pedestrian areas - including covered streets, hard and soft landscaping and street furniture will be shown with BRP representatives on hand to answer questions.

There will also be an opportunity to give feedback on the northern area and ask other questions via a drop-box.

I fear it will be similar to the one I went to when BRP held a meeting last year. Lots of nice pictures but no money and just a hope that other stores will want to come to this place.

I REALLY REALLY hope this plan is the final one to which BRP will finally stick. I will go to the exhibition where HOPEFULLY I will find some clear and defined timelines for the demolition/construction of the new buildings.

Fingers crossed... this might be the light at the end of the tunnel! ;-)

   1) I support the regeneration of Bracknell and I'm keen to see it happen - I'm just fed up with hearing about it and having hot air blown up my a*#. It's clear there's no connection between MB-W and his namesake Isambard - if there was Bracknell would've been rebuilt years ago.

2) needs no introduction - http://www.getbracknell.co.uk/news/s/2106536_derelict_units_in_market_place_knocked_down_in_preparation_for_regeneration_
