Public meeting to showcase Dr Phillip Lee's super-hospital plans

By Jennie Slevin
January 07, 2013

A public meeting to discuss Dr Phillip Lee’s vision for a super- hospital for the Thames Valley area is due to take place next week.

Bracknell’s MP would like as many people as possible to engage in the debate about health care as he calls for a ‘rethink’ of the Government’s current strategy.

Anyone who would like to share concerns or listen to the plans is welcome at the discussion on Thursday, January 10 at Holiday Inn, Manor Lane, Maidenhead.

Details are available from www.phillip-lee.com/wp-content/uploads/the-royal-thames-valley-hospital.pdf.

Top marks Neal - I'll be off to 38 degrees in a mo.

There really does need to be some kind of right-of-reply for the constituents. Who knows - maybe those of us opposed to Lee are in the minority. But at least there should be a conversation.

Head over to Lee's YouTube channel for the full 'debate' last week in Maidenhead. Witness the Home Secs true attitude toward her constituents - I wouldn't allow anyone to talk to me the way she did to some. But then no surprise from this lot.

It would be nice for them to follow up. Even better if they too ran a poll to clearly understand public feeling about this man Lee. We all know he has gone back on his election promises - even his opening gambit on his election leaflet of being a local doctor and a local man have been proven totally false.

Thanks to all for the support on 38 degrees.

Maybe the Standard can follow up this story with the reactions from his constituents and ask him why he went back on his election promises, and why he isn't listening to the people he supposedly represents?

I wonder if Lee will think again when he is old and has no means to visit his wife in a faraway hospital, or when a member of his family dies because a traffic jam prevented them getting the urgent care they needed after a stroke or heart attack.

Heatherwood saved lives and the only reason it is not at the same standard now is because the Trust are allowing it to go to ruin. Where did all the money go from the sale of the land that has already been built on? into the trusts blackhole It was certainly not invested!

The remitt of the Trusts executive is to destroy Heatherwood. This must not be allowed to happen. There was always enough land (belonging to taxpayers) there to build a decent hospital 10 mins from the M3. The whole thing has been a disgrace and absolutely criminal.

Until the NHS managers can prove that they can run a hospital without waste and use their spending power to run a hospital efficiently 24/7 for patients and make Consultants/Surgeons jobs 24/7 then no super hospitals should be built. I can see years of waste ahead if Lee's poorly though out scheme gets the go ahead.

Well done Neal. My vote is there too.

Yes, Rory Stewart would have put Bracknell on the map.

Lee's opposition will be able to shame him as the man who sold Heatherwood against his constituents wishes. I look forward to the Headline "local GP involved in selling community asset and moves local hospital care far from the reach of his constituents."

Remember the promises http://tinyurl.com/aw3t48t

Be good to see if this supported locally. I fee the people of Bracknell need to voice how they feel.

SandyAndy I agree that Heatherwood is on its last legs but surely this gives Dr Who the perfect oppertunity to make a stand and build the hospital in Bracknell.

Or even do the most sensible thing and renovate - or knock down Heatherwood - and build a state of the art hospital in its place

I just don't believe Dr Lee has anyone's interests at heart rather than his own!

Well said Tom. Maybe if the paper doesn't start a poll, some enterprising individual will start a petition to get rid of him.

Maddie - interesting news. The questions that beg asking:

Who? Experience? Main policies and issues being addressed? Apart from the obvious one that Lee is a self-serving idiot.

I am certain that both Labour and UKIP will go for Lee's jugular. I just hope a diluted and split vote doesn't leave this man representing us.

Its very telling when Dr Doo-little decides to hold his "i want to build the new Super Hospital in the Home Secretary’s Constituency" meeting in MAIDENHEAD on the same night as in his own Constituency of Bracknell [I’m mentioning the name in case he has forgotten] that there is a MASSIVE public meeting on Shaping the Future.

The arrogance of this man is simply astounding.

I have been a life-long supporter of the Conservatives, becuase of this man, I will NEVER vote Conserative again.

Why doesn’t the paper do something sensible – start a proper poll, do people want to KEEP Phillip or SACK Phillip and send a very clear message

CMK, have you been to Heatherwood lately? All they do is sent you over to Wexham. There is nothing left to save at Heatherwood. I suspect they are so cash strapped that all of the assets apart from the building are gone. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-11696023 Everything in that artcle above has now been done by stealth, apart from the selling of the site, which looks like it might fall down all on its own.

The local Tories (at least the Chairman and Executive) seem totally on-side with this fool of a man. The only way to get rid of him that I can see is to vote him out on 2015. The Tories meanwhile will stay convinced that will never happen, so perhaps the electorate of Bracknell will show their true feelings vote with feeling and send Dr Who back to Bisham.

Who knows? We may get a real local. A real MP. Someone who cares about us.

Meeting in Maidenhead? Thought he was MP for Bracknell!

He should be helping to Save Heatherwood

It seems this silly little man just wants to make himself a name (I can give him one! Lol)

Can't he kick start Bracknell heathspace?

Any way we can get this self serving numpty kicked out as OUR MP
