Coral Reef closures extended

By Jennie Slevin
December 18, 2012

Pools at Coral Reef will be closed for longer than originally planned as the roof needs extra work.

Swimmers who were originally told the pools would be open from Thursday, December 27 will now have to wait over a month while the refurbishments continue.

Bracknell Forest Council says the essential maintenance will include, underwater lighting, replacing slides in the toddlers area and repairing the shower area.

Although Sauna World will re-open at the end of this year, the pools will not be complete until Saturday, February 9.

Councillor Iain McCracken is advising swimmers to use Bracknell Leisure Centre until repairs are finished.

PoneRana, The difference being you can actually swim at the Leisure Centre?

What would those commenting suggest the council do now they have discovered the issue? Just ignore it and hope for the best? You'd be the first to be hammering on your keyboard in anger should an accident happen as a result of roof maintenance not being carried out.

If I remember correctly Councillor Iain McCracken is a non-swimmer and so unlikely to appreciate the completely different swimming experiences at Coral Reef and the Leisure Centre.

A MONTH? Something categorically wrong must have happened for it to be extended by that amount of time. Either they found a serious issue with something or the contractors are having too many tea breaks...

How much in lost revenue is this going to cost & how much to keep the contractors in for another month. Are we, the tax payers and patrons going to have to cover these costs? I hope not!

Maybe they weren't just considering what you want PoneRana?

Why do they do these refurbishments over Christmas. It is the one time of the year when we need them to entertain the grandchildren.
