Bracknell hate-crime figures expected to rise

By Becky Barnes
December 18, 2012

Bracknell's top cop anticipates recorded figures of hate crime may go up in the coming months thanks to the launch of ‘Stop hate crime now’.

Ch Insp Simon Bowden said it is still early days for the campaign, which launched at the end of September.

He said: “Over the next six to 12 months I hope to see not an increase in crime but an increase in reporting the crime.

“It will be similar to what happened with domestic abuse – the figures rose as a result of the campaign and increased confidence.”
